Best Squash Trick Shots?
Tuesday November 4, 2008
What are the best trick shots you've seen in squash, or better yet, hit during a match?
Is it the behind the back desperation groundstroke or volley when you're out of position, or the head fake when you're in front of the court with time to spare? How about that trick serve that hits the near side wall before the opposite side wall and then approaches your opponent from an unexpected angle?
Maybe the best trick shot is to prepare for a fake hard drive, with a big backswing, then hit a deadly dropshot just above the tin. Or, even more fun, execute the full swing drive being sure to miss the ball completely on the first pass, then hit a dropshot on the second attempt.
Deception is such fun in squash. Learning how to fool your opponent takes practice. It's not easy, but the mental challenge is one of the key reasons that racquet sports are so great.
