Squash Forehand Volley Drill - Open Stance, Upper Body Facing Side Wall

Chest Facing Side Wall, Left Arm Out for Balance

Steve Hufford
Continue watching as you take the racquet all the way back. Note that the striker's torso is facing the side wall even though his feet are angled toward the front corner of the court. It is valuable to turn your torso fully sideways (facing the side wall), or further back, before you hit your volley. This full preparation and good upper body position will enable you to hit your volley with more power and control.
