His Path to Beijing:
At 27, Bob Malaythong has travelled a long way; from Vientiene, Laos, to Rockville, MD, to Colorado Springs, CO, and to Orange, CA, where he now trains.
A Doubles Partnership:
Bob is replacing half of a World Championship badminton doubles team, coming in for Tony Gunawan, who previously partnered with Howard Bach to win the 2005 World Championship (Gunawan's citizenship status prohibited him for playing for Team USA in 2008). Bob Malaythong has worked to strengthen his doubles partnership with Howard Bach in preparation for Olympic badminton in Beijing. Originally playing together with styles that were too similar, Malaythong and Bach strive now to complement each other on the doubles court.
