Watch Their Heads and Feet!

They Are Always Worth Watching

By Stephen Hufford, About.com

Watch the professional's head when he or she swings. If you watch throughout the swing, you will see that the head remains steady before, during, and after impact. You will note that the pro's eyes remain riveted on the point of contact where the racquet met the moving object (be it a ball or a shuttlecock). This focus on the point of contact, throughout the swing, is imperative for making clean contact with the strings every time.

Watch the professional's feet after he or she hits. If you focus solely on the legs and feet, you will see that the pros recover very quickly to a good court position once they have finished hitting the shot. They do not generally remain stationary. In fact, they often move quickly to a better court position even though their opponent has not yet hit their shot. This early effort to get in position for the next shot is one of the habits that makes professionals play at a higher level than most of us.

So, enjoy watching the pros for their flair and showmanship, but also for their heads and feet.
